Preliminary Design

The railway Corridor X, comprising of international routes E-70 and E-85, passing through Niš, connects Paris with Istanbul and Budapest with Athens. There are eight rail lines crossing the city, and there are 260 rail traffic movements per day of which 2/3 are freight movements.

The construction of the bypass around the city will ensure the efficiency of transports, reduction of traffic congestion, removal of freight traffic from the city center and the electrification of the line and it has also the high potential to contribute to the further development of the City of Niš and the area around Niš.

Railway bypass is 22.4 km long with tree stations (Niš Sever, Pantelej and Vrežina) and one temporary junction point (Prosek).

In 2015 NING Ltd. team of engineers was hired to support COWI Ltd. for completion, of Preliminary Design, of railway (track alignment, railway station “Vrežina”, railroad crossing and accessing roads for all stations).
